How to restrict internet access on a computer using SonicWall Router rules?

  • SonicWALL Task - 3 (Firewall/Network Security Khotaling Task)
    Make sure Windows10 computers gets DHCP IP but can not access any Internet websites

  • Make sure Windows 11 Computers get DHCP IP but cannot ping 8.8.8.8 after 5PM until 11PM but can access Websites.

  • (Manage->Rules->Access Rules) Create LAN to WAN Access Rule in SonicWALL

Be careful, Access Rule is Firewall which if you create a wrong rule, you will be blocked yourself to Router and only way to resolve it is manually factory reset. This will take upto 48 hrs because someone needs to go to the Datacenter and do it manually for you.

  1. Open windows 10 computer and figure out the Ethernet address or physical address: eg. 00:50:56:B5:E5:63 

    1. Give static ip to win10 computer

  1. Go to Manage > Rules > Access Rules > +Add

In Setting:



  1. Filter From LAN to WAN


  1. Now go to window 10 and open the browser and test it.


Type www.youtube.com , you will see below information 


 Make sure Windows 11 Computers get DHCP IP but cannot ping 8.8.8.8 after 5PM until 11PM but can access Websites.

  1. Open windows 11 computer and figure out the Ethernet address or physical address: eg. 00:50:56:B5:C4:72 

    1. Give static ip to win11 computer

    2. Go to SonicWall Router > Manage > Rules> Access Rules > +Add

    3. Fill up the information like below image.



  1. Destination : Any

  2. Schedule: create new schedule

Recurring time:

Click on ok.

  1. Click on the add button and click on the close button.

  1. Now go and test on the browser.
